The Lamb Divide
Yes, this is a TV commercial, but I thought it was cute and worth sharing.
It shows the value ad(d) in finding things that can bring us all together – like the unifying influence of the backyard Barbie. Except for those annoying vegans of course. View here: The Generation Gap
California Dreaming
Excuse me if you have already seen this. It only has over 175 million views. But this came up again in the streams as Elton John just joined the EGOT club. That is artists who have won an Emmy, Grammy, Oscar and Tony. YouTube previously invited filmmakers to create the first official music videos for some classic songs that did not already have one. Max Weiland filmed a video for Elton John and Bernie Taupin’s “Tiny Dancer” that reflects life in Los Angeles from a dozen different perspectives. View Here: Tiny Dancer
Reinventing Australia Day
After the divisive Voice Referendum debate, January 26 seems like a lonely orphan of a day. I prefer not to go in for either the “Oi Oi Oi Oz is a Bonza Country” triumphalism or the stridency of the Invasion Day line. But obviously, First Nations people and allies have every right and justification for taking this stand.
I was encouraged by briefly attending the Oz Day event in Brunswick Heads. The vibe was good and seemed to be promoting a middle way. A local indigenous man, Bulagahn had a conversation with other elders. It gave rise to an idea that January 26 could be reclaimed by both Indigenous and non-Indigenous Australians as a Celebration of Country. It may take some years for us to find a way to come together on this, but it looked like a good start.
