Videos and Podcasts

October 4th, 2021

Here are a few videos and podcasts that I have found interesting. The online domain has become so cloudy and murky of late but there are still good nuggets of information to be found:

Disruptive Industries

I found this video clip interesting and hopeful. With all the terrible prophesies with climate change and species extinction, I found this outline of how the future could pan out to be realistic and positive.

Sensemaking and the search for Truthiness

Conspiracies and vaccination mandates are creating lots of division and disharmony. All of us are losing friends and family who hold different views. To me, that seems to be the symptom and not the cause. The cause really is the problem of arriving at a shared reality and common facts. No one will agree if they are using different truths and shared reality.

Rebel Wisdom is a UK journalistic website and YouTube channel that tackles the big issues. The SENSEMAKING series explores the different threads being used by respected thought leaders to solve this problem of a breakdown in a shared reality. It is quite long so if you do not have a lot of time just listen to the first and last episodes.

This second one is on the same topic but a lighter article. The writer lives in Austin Texas where they seem to be in the same predicament we are in Byron shire.

The elephant in the Room

This podcast delivers consistently interesting interviews with people at the top of their game in property. I particularly like this one around whether or not we are witnessing a price bubble and will it end in tears?

The Property Couch

Bryce Holdaway is a buyers agent I know and is a good guy. He is one of the hosts on ABC TV’s Escape to the Country. He and Ben Kingsley have teamed up to deliver this well rounded and informative podcast. At least these people know what they are doing. There are so many promos out there from some pompous 20/30ish nobody touting “I Made A Fortune out of Property – No Money Down – Blah Blah”. Stay away from them.
