Bangalow and Belongil Record Sales
Has the Byron Bay house price been exceeded again? That is the question being asked in some circles. The current record sits at $37 million for Tom and Emma Lane’s equine fantasy Copperstone outside of Bangalow, which sold for $37 million in May. 8 Border Street is 2097 M2 on Belongil Beach and has been listed for $40 million. The SOLD sign has just gone up, but the price is undisclosed. The property took three years to build with a Melbourne architect and was developed by Shane and Rebecca Smollen. He is a co-owner of Sydney-based developer Central Element and a director at McGrath. The block was part of the John Cornell and Delvene Delaney estate, subdivided in 2017.
In Bangalow, the house price has definitely been beaten. Rockpool Farm at 84 Fowlers Lane, Bangalow, has been sold to local identity Tom Misner. The rural property on 15 acres has three dwellings, ten bedrooms and seven bathrooms. It sold for $15 million, which is a new Bangalow record. Tom Misner is a long-term resident of Byron Shire with a history of buying and selling local luxury real estate. In the 90s, he developed the SAE media school on Ewingsdale Road. It was the world HQ of SAE (School of Audio Engineering), which he sold for close to 1 billion dollars.
