Beach Hotel sells again
Byron Bay’s iconic Beach Hotel has sold again. The purchase price of $140 million is the second-highest price ever paid for a pub in Australia. The buyer is businessman, Scott Didier, the chief executive of ASX-listed construction company Johns Lyng Group and a prolific philanthropist.
Didier already has extensive holdings in Byron Bay, including Great Northern and Marvel Hotels. The vendors, MA Financial, purchased the venue for $104 million from the Liberman family in 2020. This newsletter has previously suggested that “The Beachie” tells the story of Byron Bay, and you can read that here.
