Justin Hemmes Buys more Jonson St.

Merivale’s head, Justin Hemmes has added to his Byron Bay holdings. He purchased Cheeky Monkeys on Jonson St as well as two residential houses in Belongil Beach. The new site is beside Cheeky Monkeys and is located directly across the road from Woolworths. It is currently occupied by Jonsons Restaurant Bar, Asian grocery store Red Ginger and clothing store Bell & Ford, 1005 sqm in total. It was purchased off-market and vendors Mick and Laurel Judell were not willing sellers at first. They paid $950,000 for the site in 2000. Hemmes paid $11.5 mil for the 827 sqm site of Cheeky Monkeys so make a guess north of that.
